I help women with neurodiverse husband and kids prioritize self-care to thrive

Hey lovely, is your husband neurodiverse, or are you a mom of a child with autism? Likely it is both. Are the daily demands of family life leaving you with little time for self-care? Do you feel your emotional needs are forgotten? Is your identity fading away under the weight of everyday responsibilities?

Friend, I am glad you are here. This podcast will help you prioritize your self-care with simple planning solutions that empower you to rebuild your life and set healthy boundaries while still fulfilling your roles as a wife and mom.

Hey, I’m Christina—married 18 years to a neurodiverse man and mom of three neurodiverse kids.

For years, I tried to fix our home environment, hoping to ease the sensory and communication challenges in my neurodiverse family. But no matter how much I read or how many Christian experts I listened to, nothing bridged the gap between meeting everyone else’s needs and caring for myself.

I was exhausted carrying so many responsibilities while my needs were unmet. My husband was frustrated with his limitations and didn’t know what to do. My neurodiverse kids needed my help to navigate a world they didn’t always understand, but their meltdowns and challenges were overwhelming and exhausting at times. My health began to decline as I focused on making our marriage and home life optimal for my spouse and kids to prevent the cycle of problems. I reached a breaking point when I realized that prioritizing my well-being wasn’t selfish—it was essential. That’s when I turned to simple planning solutions to create space for self-care.

This podcast is here to guide you on a journey of self-care and healthy boundaries without sacrificing your roles as a wife or mom. By embracing a holistic approach rooted in biblical values, I rediscovered the vibrant woman God created me to be. Now, I want to help you reclaim your identity, heal your heart, and reconnect with the life you love.

If you’re ready to begin your self-care journey, grab your sanity latte and listen in as we take another small, intentional step toward a peaceful, healthier you.

For years, I believed that if I tried harder, stayed up later, and created the perfect environment for my family, the challenges of autism would lessen. However, when I shifted my perspective, I began to see meaningful changes in my life—and eventually, in our entire family. If you find yourself feeling trapped in a no-win situation, this Planning Series is designed for you. You are not in this alone friend.

I've often felt frustrated by planning and time management advice that seems tailored for the average family. Neurodiverse families experience unique blessings and challenges, and traditional strategies often don't apply. In this episode, let's have an honest conversation about how you can care for your neurodiverse family while also prioritizing your own well-being, even when there is no support.

I have done the same in one area of my life with awful results.  I hope the lessons I share help you on your self-care journey.

Whether it’s church, parties at friends’ houses, or school concerts, these loud, overwhelming events are a part of life. I want to prepare them to navigate these situations on their own, so they can attend and know how to handle the challenge.
For my kids, it often felt like the environment was attacking them, so I knew we needed to take it slow and give them time to process.
Here’s the process:
Start Small: The expectation was that we’d go inside the church. But we took it slow.
Noise-Cancelling Headphones: At first, we’d go into the service with headphones on, then step out during the music, and come back in for the sermon.
Gradual Exposure: Eventually, my kids could stay in for the music with their own music playing through headphones, sitting the whole time.
Building Tolerance: Next, we’d try listening to the worship music with headphones, then take them off for the sermon.
Full Participation: Over time, we worked up to sitting with no headphones during both worship and the sermon, and eventually standing and participating with the music.
After we’d been at one “level” for a while, I’d let my kids know that things might be a little different the next Sunday. Sometimes they were ready for the challenge, and sometimes they weren’t—and that was okay.
I also learned that I needed to take care of myself. Those days were stressful and exhausting for both of us, so I made sure not to jam-pack our schedule with more events.
